As it has been over two months now since we introduced Handprint Games to the world, we thought this would be a good time to start telling you a bit more about ourselves! Who are we? What is our role at Handprint Games and why are we so motivated to be part of the ever-growing world of gaming? Over the next couple of weeks, each of us will be telling you a little bit about ourselves, starting with our Digital Marketing Executive Romy.
So, who am I?
Hallo! My name is Romy and I am responsible for everything to do with Digital Marketing at Handprint Games. While I am originally from a beautiful city called Leiden in the Netherlands, I moved to Glasgow over 2 years ago to do a Masters in Marketing and have never really left since. After finishing my studies by writing a dissertation on the marketing of video games in relation to gender, I was ready to start my career in the gaming industry. Fast forward a couple months and I am now part of the Handprint Games team!
What are my responsibilities at Handprint Games?
Working as a Digital Marketing Executive is very fun as I get to do lots of different things on a daily basis. People often ask me if my role means that I am responsible for the social media side of things. While this is true, there is also a lot more to it than that. With the release of Punch Perfect, I have mainly been focussing on things like App Store Optimisation (researching keywords, optimising our pages on the App Store and Google Play Store, etc.) and digital PR (writing press releases, making a press kit, etc.). In the near future, I also want to start doing more with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to really get us out there even more!
Why did I want to work in the gaming industry?
As I am from a family of gamers, I have pretty much been around games my entire life. When I was probably too young, my dad introduced me to games like Call of Duty, Far Cry, Half-Life (the entire family is still waiting for Half-Life 3), Bioshock, and so on. As I got a bit older, I started to buy and play my own PC games, with the Tomb Raider series probably being my favourite. By the time I started university, gaming had become an important part of my life and I knew that I either wanted to do something with that, or open my own tea shop (or maybe i’ll just do both).
What are my favourite games?
I tend to mostly play AAA titles, like Fallout, Tomb Raider, The Elder Scrolls, Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and so on. I also really love stealth games (Dishonored), steampunk settings (Bioshock Infinite) and strong female characters (Horizon Zero Dawn).
What games am I looking forward to playing?
Since I have moved to Glasgow I’ve not been able to purchase my own PS4 yet, so it has been absolute torture watching all the amazing releases over the past year. There are so many games that I can’t wait to play, including of course Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassins Creed Odyssey and God of War. I also can’t wait to get the entire family together in a squad in Fallout 76.
And that was it for this week! Remember to keep following us on social media to stay informed on the release of Punch Perfect‘s first update.
Until next time!
